Shri Shyam Sunder was awarded the National Citizen Award by the President of India Providing quality reading material to a wide readership in almost all streams of literature for over more than 40 years now has understandably established Prabhat Prakashan as the leading publishers of Hindi books in the country.

Our range of publications include fiction, language aids like dictionaries and thesaurus, humour, classics, books on science and technology, cookery and healthcare, to name just a few. In Hindi publishing, there was a dearth of books on Science, Mathematics, Health, Humanities etc. With a view to provide popular books on these subjects, we commissioned authors of repute to prepare manuscripts.

In addition to original works in Hindi, we have the distinction of being the first publishing company in India to publish in Hindi, the works of such world famous Russian authors like Leo Tolstoy, Anton Chekov and Maxim Gorky, as also Pearl S. Buck. Numbering well over 2,500, we count among our prestigious publications, the complete works of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, Saratchandra Chattopadhyay, Vrindavan Lal Verma, Vishnu Prabhakar and Veer Damodar Savarkar besides almost all established authors of India.

We also publish books in English and other Indian languages. We have the unique distinction of being the only private sector publishing company to have published books for children in seven Indian languages—Hindi, Urdu, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, Telugu and English.

His vision, dynamism, intellect and concern for the country are reflected in these speeches. We have also published several books authored by the former President of India, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma.

With our excellent track record in publishing, it is little wonder that for the last ten years, we have consecutively won the first prize for 'Excellence in Production', instituted by the Federation of Indian Publishers, the representative body of Indian publishing industry.
